Environmental Education

The chapter supports the Sand Canyon Environmental Education Program, in the Southern Sierra Nevada, for outdoor, hands-on, environmental education of grade school students.

At the request of teachers, members visit classrooms to give talks about birds, the environment and other topics. We can provide sessions about such topics as “Local Birds”, “Bird Migration”, “How to Identify local birds”, and topics of special interest to classroom teachers. Send email to our education chairperson at imdanburnett@gmail.com for scheduling and further information.

We provide funding for the mounting of selected bird specimens in the Maturango Museum’s bird display and docent program.

The Chapter provides information to our governmental institutions to encourage conservation and environment practices beneficial to all.

Our Public Programs are frequently educational while dealing with nature and environmental subjects.
